Helping out behind the scenes at the Australian Institute of International Affairs will provide you with opportunities to open new doors and contribute to the running of one of Australia’s leading independent international relations think tanks.
Volunteering at the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria is a great way for you to enhance your experience and reputation in the world of international affairs, as well as to meet and network with like-minded people who share similar interests in global affairs.
As a non-profit organization, the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria relies on its volunteers. We are limited to one paid employee, consequently our volunteer and intern positions are non-paid. However, many opportunities exist for you to become involved in the work of the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria.

We currently offer three internships :
c. Careers Conference
Our Marketing Coordinator intern is responsible for assisting an appointed Council member in increasing visitor and member engagement with the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria through the Victorian website, social media , email and other marketing initiatives. < link to full job description >
Our Programme Coordinator intern assists an appointed Council member in the preparation of an engaging and topical events programme for the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria. Responsibilities include researching suitable topics and speakers, as well as liaising with the marketing team in events promotion. < link to full job description >
The International Careers Conference (ICC) is a one-day conference held at the end of August each year at a venue in or near the Melbourne CBD. The ICC provides opportunities to not only hear from highly regarded professionals from a range of international careers, but also to ask questions about ways to access international careers, and what to expect once you are there. Our International Careers Conference intern is responsible for the coordination, planning and delivery of our annual International Careers Conference.
