Public lecture with Professor Stephen Smith – US Election aftermath and Australia-Indonesia Relations

Thursday 17th November 2016 4:30pm AWST

Australian Institute of International Affairs WA in collaboration with the Perth US Asia Centre, the Asia Research Centre at Murdoch University, and the Indonesia Institute is pleased to invite you to a special public discussion with:

Professor Stephen Smith

THE EFFECT OF THE US ELECTIONS ON AUSTRALIA -INDONESIA RELATIONS

The outcome of the US Election will have real and long-term implications for America’s position in the Indo-Pacific region. While Republican Party candidate Donald Trump has suggested a stark re-evaluation of America’s alliance relationships in the region, the Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton is widely expected to reinvigorate America’s rebalance to Asia. Professor Stephen Smith will specifically address one of Australia’s most important bilateral relationships in the wake of the US election: that with Indonesia.
