Australia & Indonesia: Shared Security Interests and Cooperation

Wednesday 12th October 2016 3:50pm AEDT

Sambhi and Smith

Australia’s relations with Indonesia remain at the centre of discussion regarding our future strategic and economic prospects. While bilateral relations have fluctuated since Indonesian independence, our two nations face similar challenges and incentives to work together irrespective of diplomatic relations at any point in time.  Recent decades have seen Australian and Indonesian law enforcement agencies cooperating to combat regional security issues including transnational crime, people smuggling and terrorism.  Please join our distinguished speakers in Professor Stephen Smith and Ms Natalie Sambhi
to discuss the importance of Australia and Indonesia’s strategic partnership and the cooperation between state law enforcement agencies, the Australian Defence Force  and the Indonesian National Police Force.
