For 90 years, the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) has played a unique role in the Asia Pacific as an independent, non-partisan forum for informed debate on international affairs and Australia’s engagement in the world. Prior to Australia’s hosting of the G20 later this year, the AIIA’s 2014 National Conference will bring together some of Australia’s leading international affairs experts to discuss Australia’s foreign policy objectives and priorities as a top 20 nation. Last year’s conference received splendid feedback from some of the most respected individuals in international affairs.

‘Superb. I got a lot out of it’ (the Hon Bob Carr)

‘It was an excellent event…the Security panel was particularly rich’ (Michael Small, High Commissioner of Canada)

‘Thank you for the excellent standard of the speakers and panels at the AIIA Conference’ (Jacob Traeger, CMAX Communications)

‘Australia needs more events like this.’ (Zoe Dauth, University of Melbourne)

This year the AIIA is honoured to welcome a host of prestigious keynote speakers including the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, The Hon Julie Bishop MP; Shadow Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, The Hon Richard Marles MP, the Director of the International Security Program at the Lowy Institute for International Policy, Mr Rory Medcalf; and the Editor in Chief of The Australian Financial Review, Mr Michael Stutchbury.
